3 Year Ban For Drink Driver With Rare Personality Disorder
A court has dealt with a drink driver who claimed he needed to drink to deal with a rare personality disorder.
The driver, Peter Strandring was assessed by medics as suffering from Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder.
Following his guilty plea to drink driving the court were assisted by a probation report that stated: “It would appear that the reasons why he behaves in this manner is due to poor emotional control.
“He needs alcohol when his emotions are overwhelming him.”
When breathalysed Strandring gave a reading of 98mg of alcohol per 100ml of breath. The current drink driving limit in England & Wales is 35mg.
The Magistrates banned him from driving for 3 years coupled with a community order for 12 months including 25 days rehabilitative activities.
